“Sustainability for Democracy
Democracy for Sustainability”
On Wednesday, 12/12/18, the former Member of the
European Parliament , Mr. Michalis Tremopoulos, having accepted the
invitation of the students of the 5th General
Lyceum of Veria, met the
student members of the Erasmus + KA2 team. The students asked very interesting
questions about Democracy and Sustainability and how these can be put in place
within Greece as a Member State of the European Union.
Mr Tremopoulos stressed that Greece has taken
many steps towards a sustainable way of managing natural resources, according
to EU rules, but it is still lagging behind in relation to other European countries. Brave decisions and
actions need to be taken, but only with strong arguments, consultation, and
consensus of citizens can these initiatives proceed. School is one of the key
factors that will contribute in this direction.
The students who participated in the programme are Katerina
Della, Elena Theodorou, Leonidas Koukouravas, Nikos Tsiflidis and Maria
Tsouflidou, students of the second grade. They were accompanied by the teachers
Mrs. Giannaki Elena, Totska Katerina and Axouristou Chara, members of the Programme Pedagogical team.
