Interview within the context of
the European Programme Erasmus + KA2
On Monday, 26/11/2018, students participating in the Erasmus + KA2 European programme "Sustainability for Democracy, Democracy for Sustainability" went to the Town Hall of Veria and interviewed the Deputy Mayor of the Environment.
The Deputy Mayor willingly answered the students' questions about the actions of the Municipality regarding the protection of the environment. He spoke to them both about the actions that the Municipality has already taken and about the future plans in this field (composting, recycling). He focused mainly on waste management, which, as he said, "is also a top priority on the EU agenda for the environment". He spoke about the need to further raise public awareness of the urban environment and its cleanliness, and invited the students to help in this endeavor. The discussion also focused on democracy issues and highlighted the importance of the institution of the Municipal Council of Adolescents and Children, as well as the frequent communication of the citizens with the city authorities. The students learned valuable information for their research within the context of the European programme they are participating in and, as they said, this took place in a pleasant and friendly atmosphere.
The group consisted of: Kirtsiou Emilias, Panidou Sofia, Papafetimiou Olympia, Zirou Anna, Psarras Giannis, students of the second grade. They were accompanied by the teacher-members of the Programme Pedagogical team Axouristou Chara, Liakopoulou Efi and Moschopoulos Tassos.
